Numiscurio International Shipping Policy

Thank you for choosing Numiscurio. We are dedicated to serving the global community of coin collectors. Please carefully review our detailed international shipping policy, as it outlines important information regarding delivery times, customs, and your responsibilities as a customer.

Shipping Carrier & Method

  • All international orders are shipped exclusively via Correos de Costa Rica Registered Mail.
  • This service requires a signature upon delivery and provides basic online tracking capability.
  • Please note: Registered mail is a secure service but is not an express delivery option.

Estimated Delivery Times

  • International shipments are subject to highly variable delivery times, primarily due to the speed of the receiving country’s postal service and customs clearance.
  • Our general estimated delivery window is 2 to 6 weeks. However, this can extend during peak seasons or when specific countries’ customs processes are slow.
  • While we strive for timely shipment, Numiscurio cannot guarantee specific delivery dates once a package is in the international postal system.

Order Payment

  • All orders must be paid in US Currency.
  • Payment is accepted by international money order (subject to clearance), PayPal or by credit card.
  • Exchange rates for credit card payments are calculated and applied automatically by your credit card issuer.

Packaging Discreteness

  • For security reasons and to protect your privacy, all high-value shipments are packaged discreetly.
  • The outer packaging and shipping labels will not include the name “Numiscurio” or make any reference to “coins,” “ancient numismatics,” or other high-value item identifiers. We use a non-descript return address.

Customs Declaration & Value Declaration

  • International postal and customs regulations require a full and accurate declaration of value and contents for all shipments.
  • Numisalis will declare the content of all packages as “Collectible Items” or a similar accurate, neutral description.
  • Items will be declared at their full invoice value. We cannot, under any circumstances, undervalue an item on a customs form, declare a shipment as a “gift,” or otherwise submit a fraudulent declaration, as this is illegal and voids all insurance coverage.

Customs, Duties & Taxes

  • The recipient is solely responsible for all duties, taxes, customs fees, or any other brokerage charges imposed by their local government or carrier.
  • Please contact your country’s customs office for an estimate of these fees and regulations before placing an order.
  • It is the customer’s responsibility to manage all communications and documentation required by their country’s customs authority.

Cultural Heritage Laws

  • Beyond the countries excluded below, customers are entirely responsible for ensuring they are not violating their country’s cultural heritage, import, or repatriation laws.
  • By placing an order, you confirm that you have verified that the specific numismatic material you are importing is legally permitted by your nation’s regulations. Numiscurio does not provide legal advice and cannot be held liable for any legal action taken against a customer.

Shipping Exclusions (Crucial Information)

Due to specific cultural heritage laws, Numiscurio cannot ship ancient coins to the following countries:

  • Greece
  • Italy
  • Israel
  • Turkey
  • This list is subject to change based on the import regulations provided by each nation to Correos de Costa Rica. We may restrict shipping to additional countries at our discretion.
  • We generally ship to any country not listed. If your country is not on this exclusion list, we will attempt to ship. For countries with highly complex or varying regulations, please contact us directly for a specific review. Exceptions may apply, and guidelines change regularly.

Order Insurance & Liability (IMPORTANT)

  • Ancient coins and rare numismatics are high-value, irreplaceable items.
  • Unless otherwise explicitly stated in writing, insurance is NOT included in the standard international shipping cost
  • For high-value orders (e.g., over $500), Numiscurio strongly recommends purchasing optional full order insurance. This insurance is available as an add-on at an additional cost based on the value of the order.
  • If you choose NOT to purchase optional insurance, the customer assumes full and complete risk for any loss, theft, or damage to the package once it has been accepted by Correos de Costa Rica. Numiscurio cannot provide refunds or replacements for uninsured lost or damaged international packages.

Claims Process for Lost or Damaged Insured Shipments

  • If your order was insured and appears to be lost or has arrived damaged, a formal inquiry and claim must be filed with Correos de Costa Rica.
  • Process for Lost Insured Packages: A claim cannot be filed for a lost package until at least 30 days after the expected delivery window has passed (approximately 60 days from the date of shipment).
  • Process for Damaged Insured Packages: If an insured package arrives damaged, you must retain all packaging material and documentation and file a claim immediately (within 7 days of receipt). We also recommend filing a report with your local carrier.
  • The claims process with international registered mail and Correos de Costa Rica can be lengthy, often taking 60 to 120 days or longer for a resolution. Numisalis cannot issue a refund until the formal inquiry is completed by the carrier.
