The inscription reads: Imperator Caesar Caius Vibius Trebonianus Gallus Pius Felix Augustus – Supreme commander (Imperator), Caesar, Gaius Vibius Trebonianus Gallus, the pious, the fortunate, emperor (Augustus). 

Reverse: MARTEM PROPVGNATOREM – Mars, helmeted, advancing right, holding spear in right hand and shield in left hand 

The inscription reads: Martem Propugnatorem – Of Mars, the defender.
